Class Notes 11/18/11
-degustibus non disputanden: not in fact moral but matters of taste
-Having their own opinion: morals
-Cultural relevitism-judgments based upon their own perspective of their institutions, understanding structures, and system and that everything is a reflection of that culture through an inside view.
-anthropology-habit turned into values
-being skeptical and enlightened
-What is the motivation of Plato to write this book? Elaborates the role of the basis of the human condition
-How the rules play into this
-The right to kill: no one should be killed
                          But how about wars? Or killing other animals?
-"Kill someone if he killed other people?"
-Human life needs to be protected
-born in apart of agreement-particular society not escaping this
-Story: Giru lived in a peaceful dome and villages wanted him to be the leader. He said "if I'm leader will you do whatever I say?" The villagers agreen and he said "leave me alone"
-Dialectic good questioning, experience, and dialogue
-practical application: society based on subjectivity
